Greaseproof and Wrapping Paper: Sizes, Pack Weights and Which to Use
Paper is the cheapest part of a takeaway order and one of the easiest to get wrong. Sheets come in several sizes and are sold by weight, while bags are sold by the thousand. This guide sets out what we stock, the exact sizes, and which one fits which job, so a chip shop, sandwich bar or cafe can order the right paper first time.
Newsprint wrapping paper
Our wrapping paper is plain, unprinted newsprint in two sizes, both sold in 10 kg packs:
- 18 x 20 inch (45.7 x 50.8 cm), the classic outer wrap for fish and chips.
- 20 x 24 inch (50.8 x 61 cm), for large portions and family orders.
White greaseproof paper sheets
The greaseproof sheets are white and come in four sizes. Use them for wrapping hot food, lining trays and baskets, or cutting down to size:
- 18 x 28 inch, 4 kg pack.
- 18 x 20 inch, 4 kg pack.
- 18 x 14 inch, 3 kg pack. This size is suited to wrapping fish and chips, sandwiches and hot food.
- 7.5 x 28 inch, 3 kg pack of 700 sheets. A long, narrow sheet for baguettes, subs and wraps.
Which sheet for which job
For fish and chips, wrap the food in greaseproof and then in newsprint, or serve it in one of our fish and chips boxes. Sandwich bars and cafes will find the 18 x 14 inch sheet a handy size for sandwiches and hot food, and the 7.5 x 28 inch sheet is made for baguettes and subs. A caterer lining trays or baskets can cut the 18 x 28 inch sheet to fit.
Flat greaseproof and kraft bags
If you would rather bag the food than wrap it, our paper and greaseproof bags are flat bags for chips, burgers, sandwiches and baguettes. The white greaseproof bags come in 6 x 6, 7 x 7, 8.5 x 8.5 and 10 x 10 inch, each in a case of 1,000, and the greaseproof baguette bag is 4 x 6 x 14 inch, also 1,000 to a case. The kraft bags are plain paper bags: white 10 x 10 inch (1,000), white 12 x 12 inch (500) and brown 10 x 10 inch (1,000). Greaseproof bags are made to hold back grease from hot food; the kraft bags are plain paper.

A simple way to order
Sheets are sold by weight, so think in packs, not sheets: one pack of each size you use is a sensible first order. Bags are sold by the case, so count how many orders you serve in a week and buy whole cases. The wrapping paper is plain; for your own logo on packaging, see custom printing.

There is no minimum order. Every price is shown excluding VAT, with the case size and the price per item under each product.
