Burger Packaging Guide: Boxes, Wraps and Bags

A burger leaves your counter in one of three ways: in a box, in a wrap or in a bag. Most burger vans, cafes and takeaways use a mix, depending on the burger and how far it travels. This guide goes through the options we stock, with the real sizes and case counts, so you can build a short, sensible order.

Burger boxes

A box protects a tall or loaded burger and keeps it hot on the way home, which makes it the usual choice for delivery. We stock two burger boxes, both sold in cases of 500:

Pick the box that fits your biggest burger with the lid closed, then use it for everything on the menu so you only stock one size.

Burger wraps

For a quick walk-up service, wrapping is faster and cheaper than boxing. Our red and white stripe burger wraps are grease-resistant paper sheets, 10 x 12.5 inch (25.4 x 31.8 cm), in a case of 1,000. The same range also includes blue and white stripe wraps. You can wrap hot burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches, or use the sheets to line baskets and trays. Browse the burger wraps.

Greaseproof bags for chips and sides

Greaseproof paper bags are made to hold back grease from hot food, so they suit chips, onion rings, wedges and small sides. The white bags come in 6x6, 7x7, 8.5x8.5 and 10x10 inch, each in cases of 1,000. For example, the 6x6 inch bag suits a small portion and the 10x10 inch bag a large one. See the full range of paper and greaseproof bags. For a wooden fork to go with the chips, we also stock wooden chip forks, 1,000 to a case.

Sauces and serviettes

Sauce is where takeaways lose the most time and the most mess. Clear sauce pots come as 1oz and 2oz hinged pots (1,000 to a case) and 4oz hinged pots (500 to a case); the lid is attached, so there is nothing to match up. Add serviettes: a 1 ply 30 x 30 cm quarter-fold serviette in cases of 5,000, or a 2 ply 40 x 40 cm eighth-fold serviette in cases of 2,000.

Carrying it out

When a customer orders several burgers, a paper carrier bag keeps it all together. The small, medium and large brown kraft bags have flat handles and come in cases of 250. They can be printed with your logo; see bespoke printing.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use a box or a wrap for burgers?

Use a box for delivery and for tall or loaded burgers, as it protects the burger and its toppings. Use a wrap for fast counter service, where the customer eats soon after.

How many burger boxes are in a case?

Both the Extra Large Kraft Burger Box and the BB6 bagasse burger box come in cases of 500.

Can I put a printed logo on burger packaging?

Kraft boxes and paper bags can be printed. See the bespoke printing page for minimums and lead times.

Are the burger wraps suitable for hot food?

Yes. The stripe wraps are grease-resistant paper for wrapping hot burgers, hot dogs and sandwiches.
