Printing terms

About these terms

These terms apply to custom-printed packaging from Mega Packaging, including printed pizza boxes, fish & chip boxes, paper bags, coffee cup sleeves and stickers. We print these in house.

They add to our general terms and conditions. If the two ever differ, these printing terms apply to your printed order. By placing a printed order, you agree to them. When you approve your sample, you accept them again.

Prices and ordering

• You can design your product on our website, see the price straight away, and pay at checkout. Printed items can go in the same basket and the same payment as our plain packaging.
• Prices for printed products are shown excluding VAT. VAT is added at checkout, as with our other products.
• You can order from 50 up to 10,000 printed items online. For more than 10,000, or for anything you cannot find in the designer, ask us for a quote by phone or email.
• If you order several printed products together, each one is designed and sampled separately, with one sample per product.
• Your order is confirmed once it has been paid. We then start work as explained below.

Your artwork

• You can design on our website, or upload your logo or artwork. We accept PNG, JPEG and SVG files in the designer. If a file is not good enough to print well, we will tell you before we go ahead.
• With every printed item we keep three things: the print file made from your design, a picture of where your design sits on the product, and the original files you uploaded.
• You must own your artwork, or have permission to use it, including any logos, brand names, photos and text. If you are a business customer and someone makes a claim against us because we printed artwork you supplied, you agree to cover our resulting costs.
• You are responsible for the content of your design, including spelling, phone numbers, prices, allergen or legal information and anything else printed on your packaging.
• We may refuse to print artwork that we believe is unlawful, offensive or infringes someone else's rights.

Sample and approval

• Printed bags, pizza boxes, fish & chip boxes and cup sleeves: after you have paid, we print one sample, take a photo of it and email it to you, so you can see how your design looks on the product. We do not print your order until you have approved the sample.
• Please check every detail of the sample carefully: the size, the position, the spelling and the colours. You approve it with the link in the email, by ticking the box to confirm that you approve the sample and accept these printing terms. If you reply to us by email to approve it instead, that counts in the same way.
• Once you have approved the sample, we print exactly what it shows. We are not responsible for mistakes in an approved sample, including errors or omissions you notice later.
• Changes after approval may cost extra and may delay your order. Once production has started, changes are no longer possible.
• Machine printing: because the printing is done by a machine, some items may be slightly off-centre, or may not look exactly the same as the sample or as each other. This is normal and is not a fault.
• Stickers: there is no sample step. Stickers are printed straight after payment, exactly as you placed them in the designer. Please check the picture of your design before you pay.

If you are not happy with the sample

• Tell us what is not right. We will do our best to put it right on a new sample.
• If, after that, you decide not to go ahead, we keep a one-off set-up fee of £10 for the sample and the work on your order. You can use that £10 as credit on our website: we email you a one-use code. We refund the rest of what you paid for that printed item to the card you paid with.
• Nothing is printed for you in that case, and the order for that item is closed.

Colours and print

• We print in full colour using the CMYK process, and we cannot print with white ink: white in your design shows the colour of the paper or board.
• We print digitally. The largest area we can print on a product is 30 cm wide by 30 cm high, so a design bigger than this has to be reduced or split before we can print it.
• Paper bags can be printed on one side or on both sides (the same design on both). Pizza boxes, fish & chip boxes and cup sleeves are printed on one side.
• Stickers and labels are printed on SRA3 sheets and cut down to A4 where available, in paper, vinyl (waterproof) or clear. They can be made from 2.5 cm to 20 cm across. A sticker cut to shape is cut round the outline of your artwork (a contour cut), with the gaps inside your design either left filled or cut out, as you choose in the designer.
• Colours on a screen or in a photo can look different from colours printed on board, paper or vinyl. Printed colours may vary slightly from your sample and between print runs.
• The position of the print may vary slightly from item to item. These small variations are normal in printing and do not count as a fault.

Payment

You pay online at checkout by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, in pounds. We start work once your order is paid in full: we make the sample for printed packaging, and we print stickers. Prices exclude VAT, which is added at checkout and shown on your invoice.

Lead times and delivery

• Printed goods are made to order, so they follow the lead times below, not the same-day dispatch and next-day delivery times on our delivery page. Those times are for stock items.
• Printed packaging is ready within 14 days of you approving your sample. Stickers are ready within 14 days of payment. Because we print in house, we can often be faster than suppliers who send printing out.
• Lead times are estimates and may vary with the product, the quantity and how busy we are. We will tell you if your order is going to take longer.
• Delivery to any UK address is free and fully tracked, after production. If you ordered plain packaging in the same basket, it is sent as soon as it is ready and your printed items follow when they are made.

Cancelling a printed order

• You can cancel a printed item before we have started the sample. Once the sample has been made, the set-up fee in "If you are not happy with the sample" applies.
• Once production has started, a printed order cannot be cancelled.
• Because printed goods are made to your specification, the 14-day right to cancel that consumers usually have for online orders does not apply to them.

Returns and faults

• Printed packaging and stickers cannot be returned, and we do not accept returns of them, because they are printed for you and cannot be resold. We do not give refunds because you have changed your mind, or because of a mistake in a sample you approved.
• If your printed goods are faulty, or clearly do not match the sample you approved, tell us as soon as you notice, and where possible within 14 days of delivery, with photos. Once we have checked the problem, we will reprint the affected items or refund you for them.
• If you are a consumer, your legal rights for faulty goods under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected. Our returns page explains them.

Reorders

• We keep your artwork so you can order the same design again easily. We keep it while your account is open.
• 5% off an identical repeat order: if you order exactly the same printed item again (the same product, size, sides, design and colours), email us before you order and we will take 5% off. Any change to the design or the product makes it a new order, and it is not a repeat.
• If you change anything in the design, we make and send a new sample for you to approve.
