Sandwich Shop and Bakery Packaging: Bags, Boxes and Wraps for Bread, Pastries and Lunch
A sandwich bar or bakery sells small items, fast, so the packaging has to be quick to use and the right size for the product. This guide sets out what we stock for bread, pastries, baguettes, wraps and lunch boxes, with the sizes and case quantities from the product pages.
Greaseproof bags for pastries, cookies and bread
Flat greaseproof bags are the counter staple. They are made to hold back grease from hot food, which suits pastries, doughnuts, cookies and sausage rolls. White greaseproof bags come in four sizes, each in a case of 1,000: 6 x 6 inch, 7 x 7 inch, 8.5 x 8.5 inch and 10 x 10 inch. Start with 6 x 6 for a single cookie or doughnut, 7 x 7 for pastries and 10 x 10 for a loaf-end or several items.
Baguette bags and sheets
The greaseproof baguette bag is 4 x 6 x 14 inch, in a case of 1,000. For wrapping subs and filled baguettes by hand, the long 7.5 x 28 inch greaseproof sheet comes as a 3 kg pack of 700 sheets. The 18 x 14 inch sheet (3 kg pack) is sized for wrapping sandwiches and hot food. See the greaseproof and wrapping paper guide for every size.
Kraft bags
For bread and dry goods there are plain kraft paper bags: brown 10 x 10 inch (case of 1,000), plus white kraft bags in 10 x 10 inch (1,000) and 12 x 12 inch (500). Kraft bags are plain paper bags, so use greaseproof where the food is greasy.
Kraft boxes for lunch
When a customer takes a wrap, a sandwich and a side, a box protects it. Our kraft food boxes are made of kraft board and close with a secure lid. The No5 small and No8 medium come in cases of 300, and the No2 large in cases of 200. They take branding well, so they are a good place to start with custom printing.
Salad and deli containers
For salads, fruit pots and pasta, the clear hinged salad containers run from 250cc up to 1250cc, and kraft deli bowls come in 750ml, 1000ml and 1300ml with lids sold separately. Choose the lid at the same time as the bowl. For more on cold food, see our cafe and deli packaging guide.
Building a counter list
Most sandwich bars and bakeries do well with: one small and one medium greaseproof bag size, a baguette bag or sheet if you sell subs, one kraft box size for lunch deals, and one or two salad containers. Add a bag for the customer to carry it all, from our paper carrier bags, and napkins from serviettes.
