Plastic Carrier Bags and Bin Bags: Sizes and Case Quantities for Takeaways and Kitchens
Bags are the quiet cost of running a takeaway, cafe or kitchen. You use them every day, so the size and the case quantity matter more than the look. This guide covers the plastic bags we stock, from the carrier bag at the counter to the sack behind the kitchen, with the real sizes and case sizes so you can order the right one first time.
White plastic carrier bags
Our plastic carrier bags are white, with handles and a side gusset, and arrive flat packed. There are three sizes:
- Medium, 10 x 15 x 18 inch, in a case of 2,000.
- Large, 11 x 17 x 21 inch, in a case of 1,000.
- Jumbo, 12 x 18 x 24 inch, in a case of 1,000.
The medium bag suits a single meal or a few small items. The large and jumbo are for multi-box orders, family meals and bulkier shopping. If you pack several boxes in one order, check the jumbo against your biggest typical order before you buy a case.
Counter bags
For small items there is the white HDPE counter bag, 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10 inch), in a case of 1,000. It is made for items such as durum wraps, kebabs, sandwiches and pastries.
Heavy duty black bin bags
Our bin bags are black LDPE with side gussets, in two sizes:
- Large heavy duty bin bag, 45.7 x 73.7 x 99.1 cm (18 x 29 x 39 inch), a common UK sack size for kitchen bins, dustbins and swing bins. Case of 200.
- Extra large compactor sack, 57.2 x 86.4 x 119.4 cm (22.5 x 34 x 47 inch), made for waste compactors and the big bins behind busy kitchens, bars, hotels and schools. Case of 100.
Which bag for which job
At the counter, match the carrier to the order: medium for one meal, large or jumbo for several boxes. In the kitchen, use the large bin bag for the bins you already have and keep the compactor sack for the biggest commercial bins. Measure the bin before you order, because the bag has to open out to fit it.
Take care that sharp or heavy waste does not go in a bag that is too small for it. If you often lift full sacks, the larger size and the heavy duty grade are there for that reason.
