Hinged Salad Containers: Which Size, 250cc to 1250cc?
Pick a salad container that is too small and the portion looks mean. Pick one that is too big and you pay for plastic and chiller space you do not need. Our clear hinged containers come in six sizes, so there is a fit for a coleslaw side and for a party platter. This guide lists each size with its dimensions and case quantity, taken from the product pages.
Why a hinged container
The lid is joined to the base by a hinge and snaps shut, so lids never go missing and staff can fill and close containers quickly at a busy counter. The plastic is clear, so the food shows in a chiller or grab-and-go display. Filled containers stack, and empty ones nest inside each other to save stockroom space. They are for cold and ambient food.
The six sizes
- 250cc: about 11.3 x 11.3 x 4.2 cm, square. Side salads, coleslaw, fruit, olives, desserts and snack pots. Case of 500.
- 375cc: about 11.3 x 11.3 x 6 cm, square. A regular single portion of salad, pasta or grain salad, fruit salad or dessert. Case of 500.
- 500cc: about 12 x 12 x 6 cm, square. A generous single portion of side salad, fruit, coleslaw or pasta salad. Case of 500.
- 750cc: about 18.3 x 13 x 5.5 cm, rectangular. A main-size lunch salad, pasta salad, cakes and traybakes. Case of 400.
- 1000cc: about 18.3 x 13 x 7 cm, rectangular and deeper. Large leafy salads, sharing and catering portions. Case of 400.
- 1250cc: about 21.3 x 16 x 5 cm, large and rectangular. Sharing salads, party and catering portions, sandwiches and wraps laid side by side. Case of 200.
Square or rectangular?
The three smaller sizes (250cc, 375cc and 500cc) are square and suit single portions and sides. The three larger sizes are rectangular, which fits a main salad, a row of sandwich halves or a slice of cake more naturally. The 1000cc is the deepest rectangular size and the 1250cc is the longest and widest.
Matching size to the menu
Start from what you sell most. A sandwich shop that sells coleslaw and fruit pots as sides needs 250cc. A deli with a salad counter needs 500cc and 750cc. A caterer doing buffets or office lunches will reach for 1000cc and 1250cc. Many businesses need only two sizes, so order one case of each to see how they look with your food. See all of them in salad and deli containers.
When you need a hot-food box instead
These containers are for cold and ambient food. For hot meals look at kraft food boxes or microwave containers, and for soups and noodles see deli bowls and lids. For a whole cafe counter, read the cafe and deli packaging guide.
