Greaseproof bags: for anything buttery or oily
Greaseproof paper holds back butter and oil, so these white bags suit doughnuts, cookies, pastries, sausage rolls and pasties. They are supplied flat, 1000 to a case, in four sizes:
- 6 x 6 inch (15.2 x 15.2 cm): doughnuts, cookies, small pastries and sweets.
- 7 x 7 inch (17.8 x 17.8 cm): sausage rolls, croissants, doughnuts and burgers.
- 8.5 x 8.5 inch (21.6 x 21.6 cm): pasties, sandwiches, wraps and large pastries.
- 10 x 10 inch (25.4 x 25.4 cm): pizza slices, large sandwiches, pasties and wraps.
Brown kraft bags: the classic counter bag
The 10 x 10 inch brown kraft bag (25.4 x 25.4 cm) is natural, unbleached brown paper in a case of 1000. It is strung through one corner so you can pull one off at a time, which is quick at a busy counter. It has no handles and no print. It suits bread rolls, bakery items, fruit and veg, sweets and general counter sales. As it is plain paper, use greaseproof instead for anything that will leave oil on the bag.
White sulphite bags: a clean white look
White sulphite paper (also called white kraft) has a smooth, glazed face. We stock a 10 x 10 inch (25.4 x 25.4 cm) bag in cases of 1000 and a 12 x 12 inch (30.5 x 30.5 cm) bag for bigger items. They are plain, and suit bread rolls, dry bakery items, fruit, sweets and deli counters. The 12 inch size has a serrated top edge, so it opens and fills quickly, and is the one to pick for large rolls and sandwiches.
Which bag for which food?
- Doughnuts, cookies and pastries: greaseproof, 6 x 6 or 7 x 7 inch.
- Sausage rolls and pasties: greaseproof, 7 x 7 or 8.5 x 8.5 inch.
- A slice of pizza: greaseproof, 10 x 10 inch.
- Bread rolls and dry bakery: brown kraft or white sulphite, 10 x 10 inch.
- Large rolls and sandwiches: white sulphite, 12 x 12 inch, or greaseproof 8.5 x 8.5 inch if the filling is warm or oily.
