Aluminium Foil Containers: Sizes, Lids and Case Quantities
Foil containers are a staple for takeaways, caterers and ready-meal makers: light, stackable and easy to lid. The hard part is the codes. No1, No2, 6a, No6, No12, 9x9 shallow and 9x9 deep all look similar in a list. This guide explains the range we stock, how the lids match up, and how many come in a case, so you order the right set the first time.
The seven sizes
Our aluminium foil containers come in these sizes and case quantities:
- No1: case of 1,000
- No2: case of 1,000
- 6a: case of 500
- No6: case of 500
- No12 7 inch round: case of 400
- 9 x 9 inch shallow (1.5): case of 200
- 9 x 9 inch deep (2.0): case of 200

Matching the lid
Lids are sold separately, and each lid is named after the container it fits: No1, No2, 6a, No6, No12 and 9 x 9. The lid cases are the same size as the container cases, so one case of containers and one case of lids give you a matching set. The most common ordering mistake is a lid code that does not match the container code, so read the name on both.
Choosing a size
No1 and No2 are the high-volume sizes, which is why they are packed 1,000 to a case. The 6a and No6 are the next step up. The No12 is a 7 inch round, and the two 9 x 9 inch containers come in a shallow and a deep version for larger dishes. If you cannot decide, put one case of two sizes in your first order and see which sells through, or order a sample first.
Foil containers alongside the rest of your packaging
- Cover a tray or wrap a dish with a 45cm catering foil roll: 75 m of 11 micron foil in a cutter box, oven safe and freezer safe.
- Keep chips, burgers and wraps warm in 12 inch foil bags (foil lined and greaseproof, case of 500).
- For food that customers will reheat in a microwave, look at our microwave containers, which are listed as microwave safe on their product pages.
- Cold food goes well in hinged salad containers.
- We also stock a 4 kg foil wrap liner for lining trays and wrapping hot food.
Bags, printing and extras
Pair the containers with a paper carrier bag for multi-box orders, which can be printed with your logo, and add cutlery and serviettes to complete the order.
